Student builds voice-based Braille printer for visually-impaired kids, wins ₹6 lakh award

Himaja Lingampalli, a fourth-year BTech student, developed 'Rudhra', a voice-enabled Braille printing system to make Braille more accessible. The innovation has won the James Dyson Award in India for 2026. She transformed the device, which earlier had buttons for Braille characters, to be voice-enabled after a student asked her why they couldn't just speak instead of pressing a button.
