A district consumer commission has directed Railways to pay ₹9.1 lakh to a student from Uttar Pradesh's Basti after she missed a "crucial" examination because her train arrived over two hours late. The incident occurred in 2018, following which the student had approached the commission seeking ₹20 lakh as compensation. "Railways admitted...delay but failed to justify it," student's lawyer said.
