Students set dustbins on fire, pelt stones at police amid protests in France, 440 detained

Hundreds of students set dustbins on fire and pelted stones and other objects at police as the protests turned violent in France. Police responded with tear gas after protesters vandalised bus shelters and advertising hoardings, detaining around 440 of them. Students are protesting over poor school conditions, including overcrowded classrooms, teacher shortages and exhausting timetables.
