Study finds diet nutrients strongly influence gum health

A BMC Oral Health study of 3,013 adults found that higher intake of alpha-carotene, beta-cryptoxanthin, and fluoride was linked to fewer periodontal pockets and reduced gum bleeding. In contrast, greater sodium and vitamin K intake increased calculus buildup. The findings show diet, lifestyle, and sociodemographic factors play key roles in periodontal health.
