Study finds gene linking vitamin D to cancer treatment

A new study in Frontiers in Endocrinology identifies gene SDR42E1 as key to vitamin D absorption. Its mutation is linked to deficiency. Using CRISPR, scientists blocked the gene in colon cancer cells, reducing their growth by 53%. This may offer a new path for treating cancer and other vitamin D-related diseases.
