Study in WB finds traces of heavy metals in ponds

A recent study finds that freshwater in West Bengal's ponds is highly contaminated with heavy metals. This pollution is harming tiny aquatic animals like zooplankton that live in the water, and act as early warning indicators of ecosystem damage. Canal water is the most polluted with heavy metals and poses health risks to children and adults.
