Study suggests now-extinct monkeys crossed Atlantic from Africa 35 mn years ago

A study published in Science journal suggests now-extinct family of African primates known as Parapithecidae crossed Atlantic Ocean from Africa to South America. The researchers found four fossilised monkey teeth deep in Peruvian Amazon that belong to the primates. The monkeys likely journeyed when sea levels dropped during geological epochs transition about 32-35 million years ago, study said.
