Princess Sudhira Sundari Devi Narayan of Cooch Behar, defied royal traditions by marrying Alan Mander, a Britisher despite being betrothed to a young prince from Kapurthala. Her determination led to family confrontations, but she prevailed and wed Mander in 1914. Settling in London, Sudhira became a prominent activist for women's rights and supported Indian soldiers during World War I.
