Sugar-free diets may disrupt gut microbiome & metabolism: Study

A study by researchers from Kuwait suggested that a low-fat diet containing no sucrose may disrupt gut health. The study conducted in mice found that sugar-free diet promoted inflammation and metabolic dysfunction including poorer sugar control, alterations in gut bacteria and changes associated with fatty liver disease compared with mice that consumed some sucrose.
