Sun’s most active area tracked for 94 days in longest observation

Scientists observed a single solar active region, called NOAA 13664, continuously for 94 days, marking the longest such observation on record. Scientists analysed formation, twisting, and eventual release of energy to study why some regions produce massive flares while others stay calm. The findings would help understand space weather threats and refine models for predicting geomagnetic storms.
