Suppressing reproduction may extend mammal lifespan by 10%: Study

A recent study suggested that suppressing reproduction can extend lifespan in mammals by around 10%. The study analysed 117 mammal species and found that castrated males without testosterone are less likely to die from aggression or risky behaviour. In females, sterilisation was linked to longer lives due to reduced physical demands of pregnancy, reproductive cycling and lower infection risks.
