The Supreme Court has stayed show cause notices worth ₹1.12 lakh crore issued by DG of GST Intelligence to online gaming companies over the imposition of a 28% GST on entire value of players' bets. The petitioners had argued GST should apply only to gross gaming revenue. They also argued that 28% GST should not be applicable retrospectively.
