The water dispute between states like Punjab and Haryana has been continuing for over 61 years after the first agreement between them was signed in 1955. The Supreme Court on Thursday quashed a 2004 Punjab law that terminated the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal water sharing agreement with Haryana. The SC slammed Punjab's government for taking a "unilateral" decision over the issue.
