Sweden opened their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a 5-1 win over Tunisia in Mexico's Monterrey. It marked the first time since the 1938 tournament that Sweden had scored five goals in a FIFA World Cup match. Yasin Ayari netted a brace, while Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyökeres and Mattias Svanberg added a goal each for the European nation.
