Sweden's oldest bank fires CEO amid money laundering scandal

Sweden's oldest bank Swedbank has sacked its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Birgitte Bonnesen amid allegations that the bank was involved in money laundering. The bank reportedly handled as much as $23 billion in questionable funds each year between 2010-2016 in Estonia. Bonnesen, who was named Swedbank's CEO in 2016, was dismissed shortly before the lender's annual general meeting in Stockholm.
