Swiss voters in a referendum voted against a proposal to end an accord with the European Union on the free movement of people. The measure was rejected by 62% of the voters and supported by 38%. In 2019, around two-thirds of the 21-lakh foreigners living in Switzerland were EU citizens, with over 4.5 lakh Swiss citizens living in the EU.
