Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa has unveiled new banknotes replacing those showing ousted President Bashar al-Assad and his family. The move is aimed at reviving Syrian economy after more than a decade of war, sanctions and financial isolation that left the currency severely weakened. The new bills, which range from 10 to 500 Syrian pounds, will enter circulation on January 1.
