Since Syria's President Ahmed al-Sharaa seized power in December, hundreds of Alawites have been forced from their private homes in Damascus by security forces, Reuters reported. In January, 12 masked men reportedly stormed the home of a family, pointed AK-47 rifles in their faces and ordered them to leave. In March, several Alawites were killed in Syria's western coastal region.
