Tagaram Bhil, a folk musician from Rajasthan's Jaisalmer was honoured with the Padma Shri today. He learnt to play the Algoza during childhood and developed his skills through years of practice while grazing goats with his father. He first performed in 1981 during Independence Day celebrations and has since represented Rajasthan's folk and desert music in over 35 countries.
