The Gujarat High Court on Friday said that it was Rabindranath Tagore who gave the title of 'Mahatma' to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The court was hearing a petition filed by a candidate challenging the answer key of an examination published by a local body which said that an "unknown journalist" gave Gandhi the title.
