The Taliban ordered Afghan universities to remove books authored by women, multiple reports stated. Taliban also banned teaching of 18 subjects, including human rights and gender studies, deeming 680 titles, with 140 by women, as "anti-Sharia." Earlier, Taliban banned girls from attending school beyond the sixth grade and in late 2024, midwifery courses for women were also quietly shut down.
