The Tamil Nadu Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) has determined that personal motive, not caste discrimination, was behind the notorious Vengaivayal water tank contamination case that shook the state in December 2022. The CB-CID has named three accused who allegedly contaminated the drinking water supply to take revenge against a panchayat president's husband.
