Tamil Nadu to add infertility care to Family Welfare Programme

Tamil Nadu will integrate infertility care into its family welfare programme, becoming the first Indian state to do so. Amid declining births and a fertility rate of 1.3, the initiative will expand infertility treatment, intrauterine insemination and preconception counselling across government hospitals and health centres, focusing on couples experiencing difficulties in conceiving.
