Tanker with 27 Indians aboard attacked by limpet mines in Strait of Hormuz

In first such attack, a Panama-flagged tanker, carrying 27 Indian seafarers, was targeted with limpet mines in Strait of Hormuz on Friday. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the Indian nationals are safe with no injuries, adding India is continuously monitoring the situation. Limpet mines are inexpensive and readily available explosives that attach to a ship's hull using powerful magnets.
