Tata Steel has officially shut down its last blast furnace at Port Talbot plant in UK after nearly 100 years. Tata Steel expects to resume production by 2027 or 2028 using more environment-friendly ways to produce steel. The UK government in September announced £500-million subsidy to replace blast furnaces with an electric one at the plant.
