Discussing the proposed zero tax for individual taxpayers having an annual taxable income of up to ₹5,00,000, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal has said, "These are the people who need it the most." He added, "We are clear that the benefits of formalisation of the economy, the larger tax base, more taxes... have to be shared."
