Fossils initially identified as teenage Tyrannosaurus rex are now recognised as adults of a different dinosaur species, scientists stated. An analysis, considering growth rings in bones and growth modelling, revealed that these creatures from 66 million years ago weren't rapidly growing juveniles but nearly full-grown. The fossils sparked debate since the discovery of the first full skull in 1942.
