Indian teens are reportedly contracting STDs in higher numbers than before and being sexually active at a younger age. A survey based on interviews of 15,000 teenagers from 20 cities revealed that 8.9% teens gave a history suggestive of sexually transmitted infection, and that the average age of first sexual contact for boys was 13.72 years and for girls 14.09.
