The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Saturday passed a bill to abolish the two-child norm that disqualifies people with more than two children from contesting local body elections. Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka said that the bill was passed to improve the declining fertility rate in the state. The fertility rate is 1.7 in rural areas of Telangana.
