The Telangana government has announced that the annual distribution of Bathukamma sarees to women in the state will begin tomorrow (Thursday). The government will distribute nearly one crore sarees this year. Telangana Textiles and Handlooms Minister KT Rama Rao said the initiative was first launched in 2017 to support weavers amid unemployment and to present a small gift to women.
