The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has officially verified the third and fourth hottest temperatures measured on Earth. It recorded extreme temperatures of 53.9°C (± 0.1°C) in Kuwait's Mitribah on July 21, 2016, and 53.7°C (± 0.4°C) in Pakistan's Turbat on May 28, 2017. The WMO accepted Mitribah's temperature as the highest temperature ever recorded for the continental region of Asia.
