Term 'Indira Gandhi' used to refer to corruption in Turkey

The name of former PM Indira Gandhi is used in Turkey as a slang to refer to someone indulging in corruption, misusing public money or stealing. The term 'İndiregandi' reportedly originated out of the similarity between 'Indira' and Turkish expression 'indirmek' which means reducing or lowering. The term's usage surged after it featured in Turkish songs and movies.
