The upcoming GST Council Meeting could exempt term life insurance policies from 18% goods and services tax, Moneycontrol reported. However, policies with an investment component will not be exempted. The government is expected to lose around ₹200 crore annually in revenue due to tax exemption for term life insurance, a senior government official said.
