A US agency is evaluating a petition which claims that Tesla cars contain a defect causing sudden unintended acceleration. The petition for investigation cited 127 consumer complaints involving 123 unique vehicles, 110 crashes and 52 injuries. In one of the complaints, the owner said his closed and locked Model S began accelerating on its own, crashing into a parked vehicle.
