US-based electric carmaker Tesla has secured around $521 million in loans from four Chinese banks to build its first Gigafactory outside of the US, which it estimates will cost around $2 billion. Tesla CEO Elon Musk formally began construction of the factory in January. Tesla is set to become the first foreign automaker to wholly own a factory in China.
