Thailand's Koh Samui facing water crisis amid tourism surge

One of Thailand’s popular islands, Koh Samui, is facing a severe water crisis caused by a surge of tourists and decline in rainfall. According to local estimates, the remaining water is sufficient only for the next 30 days. Famous for its beaches, trekking destinations and jungle safari, Koh Samui hosts some 27,00,000 visitors per year.
