Commuters on national highways and expressways will have to pay more on road journeys as National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) increased toll charges by an average of 4-5% on highway sections across the country. The death toll from the massive earthquake in Myanmar has reached 2,719 and is expected to rise to over 3,000, the country's military leader Min Aung Hlaing said in a televised address. Bajinder Singh, a self-proclaimed Christian pastor, was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a woman, a case for which was filed in 2018. The victim alleged that Singh took her to his residence under the pretext of helping her move abroad. He raped her and also recorded the act, the victim alleged. A Punjab court had acquitted five other accused.

US President Donald Trump said that he heard India is "going to be dropping its tariffs very substantially" on US goods. This comes one day before reciprocal tariffs are set to take effect globally. "I said, 'Why didn't somebody do this a long time ago?' A lot of countries are going to be dropping their tariffs," Trump further said.
