Despite winning two medals at the Paris Olympics and making India proud at the highest level, Manu Bhaker wasn’t initially nominated for the National Sports Award. Her father expressed disappointment and advised others not to push their children into Olympic sports. After much debate, Manu and three other sportspersons were finally awarded the Khel Ratna 2024.
