When you use a centralized crypto exchange, you don't hold the keys to your crypto, the exchange does. If the exchange gets hacked, or rugged, you lose your assets. That's why we say "not your keys, not your coins". Because of this, the world is moving towards decentralized crypto exchanges (DEX) where you control your keys and cryptos.
