Shri Brijmohan Lall Munjal, founder of the Hero Group, was born in 1923 in Kamalia. He migrated to Amritsar in 1944 in search of opportunities. In 1954, the family relocated to Ludhiana and founded Hero Cycles Limited, beginning with the production of bicycle parts. By 1984, the company ventured into motorcycle manufacturing through a joint venture with Honda.
