The artisans of Rajasthan, especially Jaipur, are renowned for crafting exquisite lac bangles. These bangles, patronised by the royal family, are an important component of Rajasthani culture. Jaipur's Maniharon ka Rasta district is the epicentre of bangle craftsmanship. Lac, derived from insect secretions, is processed to create the colourful resin that is used in bangle making.
