There is an 'underground river' beneath the Amazon

Brazilian scientists announced the discovery of a 6,000-kilometre river about four kilometres under the Amazon River in South America in 2011. The river is called Rio Hamza, after the head of the team of researchers who found the underground river. While the Amazon ranges from 1-100 kilometre in width, the Hamza spans between 200-400 kilometres.
