These medicines could cause hearing loss: ENT specialist

Certain medicines used for infections, pain or chronic illnesses can cause ototoxicity, drug-induced hearing loss, says ENT specialist Dr Shama Kovale. Drugs like aminoglycoside antibiotics, cisplatin chemotherapy, loop diuretics and high-dose aspirin may damage inner ear hair cells, causing tinnitus or muffled hearing. Early symptoms should be reported so doctors can adjust doses.
