Supreme Court's tax treaty ruling in Tiger Global may impact over 500 foreign F&O traders in India, Moneycontrol reported. Several foreign portfolio investors (FPIs), who created Mauritius and Singapore structures to invest in India for tax benefits, are now exposed due to this ruling. It has diminished role of tax residency certificate and FPIs now need to prove commercial substance.
