Chinese tech conglomerate ByteDance said TikTok Global will remain its subsidiary, even after Oracle and Walmart earlier stated that its majority ownership would be in American hands. ByteDance dismissed the claims as a "rumour" and said it would own 80% of the newly created US-based company that would own most of the app's global operations.
