Principal Economic Advisor Sanjeev Sanyal said the time taken for processing a patent application reduced to 42 months in 2020 from 64 months in 2017 and 52 months in 2019. The number of patents granted increased in last 10 years from 7,509 to 28,391, he added. Notably, the share of patents filed by Indian residents increased to 41.5% in 2020-21.
