TMC announced Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay as Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly after its poll defeat. Asima Patra and Nayna Bandyopadhyay were appointed Deputy Leaders of Opposition, while Firhad Hakim has been named as the party's Chief Whip. This comes hours after BJP's Suvendu Adhikari took oath as West Bengal CM. Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had refused to resign as CM.
