Ahead of West Bengal Assembly polls, TMC wrote to the Election Commission seeking action against BJP workers over alleged electoral corruption in Kanthi Dakshin. It alleged that BJP worker Chandrashekhar Giri and his wife Minati Giri were distributing free liquor to influence voters. The party claimed this was aimed at securing votes for BJP candidate Arup Kumar Das.
