TMC candidate Alifa Ahmed won West Bengal's Kaliganj Assembly bypoll by over 50,000 votes on Monday. BJP's Ashish Ghosh came second while Congress' Kabil Uddin Shaikh came third in the bypoll. Kaliganj Assembly bypoll was necessitated due to the death of Ahmed's father and TMC MLA Nasiruddin Ahmed in February. Notably, Assembly elections are scheduled in West Bengal next year.
