Tamil Nadu CM Vijay has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi opposing Karnataka's proposed Mekedatu dam across the Cauvery River. He objected to the Centre's claim that Karnataka does not need the consent of downstream states before building the project. Vijay urged the Centre to follow the 2018 Supreme Court judgement and protect the rights of lower riparian states.
